“I need more space in my life to create!”
Denise (name changed) is a vibrant artist and teacher who inspires everyone she meets. But on the inside, she was feeling overwhelmed:
- by her home environment; and
- by a strong desire to integrate creativity more fully into her daily life.
And as we discovered, the two were inextricably linked: Denise’s home was also her workspace. If she didn’t feel comfortable there, she couldn’t create! But it wasn’t clear how she should begin changing.
Our initial conversations about what her home meant to her unblocked something for Denise. Within a very short time, she:
- ‘took ownership’ of her space in a way she hadn’t previously been able, and
- did a big clear-out, creating much needed physical and mental space.
These steps immediately released energy and motivation for focusing on her creativity – just what she needed!
Denise had been practicing her art for over thirty years and while highly gifted, as a self-taught artist she didn’t always have the confidence to express her deepest, most intimate creativity or to stand up and be counted among her peers. We worked on this issue from a number of different angles and Denise showed enormous courage by affirming herself artistically in many new and daring ways. It was so heart-warming to witness Denise’s transformation to being able to express her true self with pride.
The Outcome:
Denise can now hold her head high in terms of artistic integrity. She has revamped her website to represent herself more accurately, and as a teacher, she now offers classes that she loves, rather than those people might expect of her. She is sending a very clear message that she and her art matter!
As we concluded our coaching relationship, Denise told me that coaching had been just what she needed to work past her issues in a creative and non-judgmental way. She is firmly on her new path and knows where she’s headed. She also knows that at any point in the future she can come back for more coaching, if other issues arise or if she simply wants to gain further clarity.
If you are ready to do the same, let’s get started on your coaching journey today.
